'The Abandoned Attic' was an environmental based animation project set in WW2, reflecting on the nights of bombing in the Blitz. It uses sound and lighting to suggest clues towards what is happening, and ends with an air of mystery. This was created on my own for my final major project on my BA (hons) Animation degree. Software used in this trailer were Maya 2017, Houdini, Adobe Photoshop, Nuke, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
What's next for the Abandoned Attic?
Since this was completed, I have taken this idea away and began developing innovation around the style and concept in which it portrayed. The earlier drawings for this project were a very different style to the end result, and the early animatics were much more elaborate - the trailer being a result of shortening the project to fit the deadline. I hope to redevelop the early foundations of ideas around the original themes, eventually turning them into a mini series, which is set to be entitled 'The Memory Zone'. There is also a possibility to follow on from this with a game/interactive version in the future because of the nature of the storylines and characters, where the players choices change how quickly the pieces of truth form together across time, to answer some of the mysteries, eventually working towards revealing the bigger picture truth at the end, possibly with alternate endings, allow the player to dream and create their own story within the story; including the characters questions around 'who am I' and 'where did I come from', as the main character regains parts of her memories. I hope to also collaborate across disciplines and talents for parts of these 2 future projects, with other creative professionals, as I believe bringing together different styles can be powerful when communicating visual messages and a story.
